  1. Hi snowmayer, The XE does have quite a few flaws to be honest. 1) She's darn good looking - mine got scratched on the boot recently by some loser #$@/÷!!! 2) her roof is slightly shorter than other saloons for that sweeping good looks - you get reminded to stay focused on her as you enter....just like what my wife does with a knock on my head when my eyes go wandering :-) 3) Boot is a little small - helps me to keep only relevant stuff in the car. Still fits my recaro child seat with some room to spare. 4) She lacks cubby space - again, this lady does not like to carry too much junk. Just a slot at each door for a small size btl plus a folder for coupons. Center console does have some space where u can buy an internal divider to give u more space. Oh, there's a wifi slot there to charge ur phone. 5) She rattles - sometimes i hear it, sometimes i don't. Sometimes ladies can get a bit more naggy, mine does it from time to time. Didnt bother me that much :-) But heard another XE bro's rattling problem was bad enuf for him to ask wearns to check. Think it was resolved. 6) rear seats are too cramped - i frequently ferry families and friends around. They comment that space is sufficient for travelling in SG. Unless you always go full load up north, this isnt a big deal imo cos i am always in the driver seat kekeke. So.....in terms of reliability, this frugal diesel jag has yet to give me any problem except that i am unable to collect enuf fuel expenditure within a specific time to qualify for some free gifts from shell. Friends get jealous when i tell them my monthly fuel expenditure got reduced by more than 50% by using diesel from Smart Energy. On the positive side, the XE's sound insulation is very good imo. I dont hear the diesel clatter at idle, i dont get much tire roar from my 19inches tires except on certain road surfaces and above gear 3 or 4, the engine note is greatly dimished to allow quiet cruusing for most part of the drive. Lastly, as what most people will tell you, go test drive all the cars you are keen on and compare. I wasnt attracted by the XE on my firat test drive. But having tried a few brands back to back, my opinion of the xe changed. Have fun :-)

    2013 XF Boot Opening

Revisiting this thread. Just to share with Bros here. I finally gave up (to tolerate the boot doesn't open full) and changed the struts. I actually had couple of incidents, I hit my forehead on the boot lid when it stopped at the height of my line of sight, not fully open. I bought aftermarket, through eBay also. Original Jag is double the price per piece. File attachment Quota is too small. I can't attach pics. I actually took a video too, now it opens up freely. But because the struts is very new, closing takes bigger effort. Resistance is very high. Changing is not difficult. Just need a screw driver to release the clips at the ball joints. This is the link on eBay....... https://www.ebay.com/itm/2X-REAR-TAILGATE-BOOT-GAS-STRUTS-8X23406A42AC-JAGUAR-XF-SALOON-2008-2015/222641729515?hash=item33d67b2feb:g:xnIAAOSw42JZF3T-

    Just DIY this.........

Dear Bros, Been having a thought to stick a thin reflective strip around the edge of the rear valence. Then, something came up to my mind, so I decided to do this instead a reflective strip. Just to share I just did this recently.......installing it is quite painstaking.. Thought its easy to just push in between the gap, but I was wrong. Took me few hours. Wasn't easy in the beginning. Until I figured a way. Sprayed WD-40 between the gaps. Let it sit. Then, slowly insert the strip inch by inch. Broke both my thumb nails too and 4 painful fingers (both thumbs and index fingers). Almost gave up this first time. Some interval area is obstructed by supports. So, need to cut away the inserts, else it will protrude and won't sit flush to the gap. It looks like this......... It looks like this when parking lights is on.............I cut away its original cig 12v plug. Then, connect to rear lamp wire loom. in the dark................ actually is the camera exposure that makes it look brighter than actual. Bought it from eBay.............here's the link...... https://www.ebay.com/itm/2M-12V-Red-Neon-LED-Light-Glow-EL-Wire-String-Strip-Rope-Tube-Car-Interior-Decor/222206216980?hash=item33bc85cb14:g:8xUAAOSwnQhXoGuj&vxp=mtr

    DIY GPS

Hi Guys Just sharing this add-on. Some of you may remember of my previous $2 daiso hook solution for my Garmin. So, I finally removed that and replaced with a wider and sleeker DIY screen. Bought form eBay, its a phablet made by Aoson. Been searching around for awhile till i stumbled into this. Not expensive (ard $80 plus SGD). Below some pics to share. My previous Garmin; This is the phablet I used tinting film to mask out the metallic hooks and the brand on the back Just by inserting the hooks into the gaps on dash, this is how it look View from outside windscreen and side view I had to remove Garmin cables and re-run new cable for the phablet. The original cable provided is straight type. I need to get an angled connector (yes, eBay). Note that there's 2 types of angle, left 90 deg or right 90 deg. This is so call left 90 deg I removed most of its original apps and installed Waze, Google map and Sygic. Sygic is nice but have to pay for premium, after 7 days trial. I put a Jag wallpaper to mimic original

    Door lights.

I also did this on my XE, but have since removed all the image templates as I felt increasingly embarrassed after a while. The lights now cast a solid bright light onto the ground. Way better than the stock filaments.

    Cleaning MAF Sensor

Recently encountered the dreaded P006A code. Decided to DIY cleaning the MAF sensor before sending into a workshop for further assessment as my warranty has just expired. My ride is an XF 2.2D Feb 2015 with a mileage of about 65K km. Below are some photos: Error Code: P006A Location of MAF Sensor After removing the sensor. The hot-wired sensor is very dirty from exposure to carbon, dirt and oil particle. Use only dedicated MAF cleaner. Give the sensor unit a thorough spray and let it dry. After the cleaning, the sensor is as good as new...

    Puddle lights

Dear Bros, Yes. I did it. I've changed mine to LED. I posted in thread in this forum. Its bit tricky to pry open the lamp housing. I actually broke a clip of one side. Lesson learnt, was super extra careful on other side. I changed it again from a 4x LED to a 6x LED (single sided). Somebody oversea posted a thread how to remove the lamp housing. Found some pics of my DIY..........

  11. no worries and dun say that.... my car was bought during high COE days ie approx 90k, my car was bought at 230k. by selling it at 5yr mark i get maximum PARF back and COE at 5yrs returns me close to 45k. coincidentally current new COE are at 50-55k. so logic prevail that if i continue i have a high depreciation car for 5yrs or sell it and just the COE rebate alone i can nearly get a new 10yr COE. PARF at 5 yrs is max and will go on a sliding scale till the end. so unless there is a robust 2nd hand market over paying for used Jags, it will be on a sliding scale every year till the end and all i get is a portion of the OMV thats all..

  27. Hi, Along with numerous fellow members (XF/XJ, DPF- EURO V) I have had this DPF issue, with system message telling me it's near full, etc.. And many of us have gotten the Acerev http://acerev.com/acerev-dpf-cleaner/ .. I have used it for months (quite easy as a small additive is added every other refuel).. Not recurrence of the DPF msg/issue, and driving pattern unchanged. PM me if you'd like more details, otherwise the website is pretty informative. Good luck! King282 XJ3.0D EuroV

  29. 1. regeneration burn of soot particles when the sensors detects a preset build up and the car is driven for 15-20mins above 70-80kmh. these figures are generic and may differ from car to car depending on manufacturer preset parameters. 2. in most modern diesel engines and modern day good syn engine oil do not suffer from oil dilution to be of any significant level unless the engine is poorly maintained. this fear/myth are from olden pre Euro 5 era.

  30. Hi idaddy, Yes, i had same light turned on by itself issue before. I fixed the map light myself. Have to remove the entire lamp unit. Wipe clean the contact points of connectors and the 'touch' lens. Solved. Never surfaced again for past 1.5 years or more so. A/c compressor is not cheap. I replaced once before. But I did not repair at Wearnes. Cost me about 2K in total that includes other a/c servicing (sorry, I forgot the details, but its a standard stuff they do when replacing a/c compressor). My engine mount needs to change too. No time to do it yet. But won't be going to Wearnes.

  34. Hi snowmanyer i am a happy and proud owner of jaguar XE. Been driving it for 5months and still loving it. I don't have the answers to most of your questions but I just share with you my point views. Just head down to the showroom and have a test drive and feel for yourself. Generally people made purchase based on either logical and emotional decision. You need to know what you want and your budget. Jaguar XE is definitely not the best sedan in its class, it depends on your acceptance level of its flaws. The critics will never ends and it comes from an individual preference so place your judgement because you going to be the owner and driver. Enjoy your buying journey. Ray

    Baby Cat's Servicing (XE)

Diesel FC- I pump at taxi uncle diesel/lng kiosk. I get about 860-900km per tank of $48 Servicing wise-engine got a bit rough (sounds rough) at 15k km so I changed oil myself. Now my engine really purrs. The first servicing is at 34k so sit back and relax, even if it costs a bomb Interior- I luv it... so much more luxurious. (Compared to Audi) what comes as add ons are standard in jaguar. (Electric seats, Bluetooth link to iPod, reverse cam) Please buy the XE diesel! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  36. 1) Diesel, definitely. Torque is amazing, full tank gets me 700+ km, yet $60+ to top up. 2) Warranty not up so can't answer 3) Dated? Uhhh, have you seen the BMW3 interior? [emoji16][emoji16][emoji16] But seriously if you're expecting cutting-edge design, that's not what Jaguar is good for. What Jag is good for is timeless elegance. It is a great British brand after all. The rotary Jaguar Drive selector has been around for 10 years so I would think they would have ironed out any problems with it by now. PS: If you want to buy a diesel, the best time to buy is now, before the new emissions surcharges kick in on 1 Jan 2018. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
